You are invited to participate in an interview about your child's oral health experiences

We would like to invite you to participate in an interview about your child’s dental care experience. It is separate from your care at Willamette and deciding to participate or not will not affect the care you get there.

This interview would last about 45 minutes and would be at a convenient time for you by Zoom or phone call. The study is being done by the University of California, San Francisco to learn about patients’ experiences and opinions of Willamette’s cavity prevention program, as it is experienced by Native
Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander (NH/OPI) child patients and their families.

We hope to learn how you and/or your child feel about your overall care experience at the dentist, how you and/or your child feel about the quality of your/your child’s oral health, about your/your child’s oral health habits and attitudes, and about the cultural and family context in which you are raising and caring for your child.

What does participation involve?
If you choose to be in this study, the researcher will interview you and/or your child remotely by Zoom meeting or phone call. The interview process will take about 45 minutes total. The researcher will ask you to describe your/your child’s experiences visiting the dentist, your/your child’s oral health habits and attitudes, and the cultural and family context in which you are raising and caring for your child. If participants agree, a digital audio recording will be made of this formal interview. After the interview, someone will type into a computer a transcript of what’s on the recording and will remove any mention of names or contact information. Before the interview, the researcher will send you a link to information about the study, with a consent form for you to review and agree to if you want to participate.

What will participants receive?
Participants will receive a $50 electronic gift code as a thank you for their time and participation.

Who can join?
Parents or caregivers of Willamette Dental Group patients aged 0-17 who identify as members of the NH/OPI community who have been contacted and recruited for this study can join. Interested in getting started?

If you have additional questions, please check out our Frequently Asked Questions page for more details, or send us a note via the Contact Us link at the very bottom of the page and we'll get back to you.
